This comfortable, earth-friendly home was created by upgrading an obsolete, inefficient 1951 tract house. The design combines the warmth of craftsman bungalows with serene, elemental Japanese aesthetics. A new kitchen, master bathroom and walk-in closet were added, expanding the original three bedroom, one bath house from 1,040 to 1,440 square feet. Indoor-outdoor living is enhanced with a new front porch, patio, pergola, and pond.
The completed project includes high performance windows, abundant insulation, efficient fixtures and appliances, on-demand water heater, solar photovoltaic system, and durable, healthy, low-impact finish materials.
